If you don't think dog owners resemble their pets, pick up a copy of "Island Dog" magazine and take a gander at "Big Mike" Palcic and his Boxer Trax. They look so much alike the caption should have said, "Mike, left, Trax, right.) Mike is co-owner with Rolf Nordahl of the MacMouse Club on South Street, a computer store that sells and services Mac and Apple stuff. Trax and another equally imposing Boxer whose name escapes me live in the store and greet customers. Despite their daunting size and appearance, the dogs are sweethearts. I was nearly licked to death (by the dogs, not Big Mike) while waiting to pick up my daughter's computer.

"Island Dog" is a very cool little magazine that is distributed free at pet stores, vet centers and shopping centers around the island. It is published by John and Carol Harmon, who I don't believe I've had the pleasure to meet. (If we have met, sorry. I never forget a face but never remember a name.) But after this plug for their periodical, maybe my dog Boomer will magically appear in Spring or Summer issue. For the record, I don't much resemble  Boomer, a Border Collie mix, except when we try to stand up and then we look like a couple of semi-ambulatory geezers unfolding like lawn chairs.

If you are looking to spend some pesos on your pooches, "Island Dog" has some Christmas gift suggestions like organic cotton crochet toys (which will last about one minute with a Boxer) , Shaka dog leashes and collars and a specially designed dog dish that will slow down how fast Fido feeds.
